Ed note: The lovely Natalie Elphinstone is guest blogging with us today. I’m excited! Are you? (She was also part of our blog hop earlier this week, I’d recommend checking it out if you haven’t already.)
Neutral colours include all the tones along the black, grey, white spectrum as well as browns and creams. Neutral colour schemes are a big trend right now, but it can be hard to get it right. Without some simple tips and tricks in mind your layout can end up looking very monotone and dare I say it, boring?! Here’s some pointers to keep in mind. Continue reading
I am so very happy to be able to be part of the online team here for Scrapbook Creations and am looking forward to blogging about interesting new trends, undiscovered inspiration and some tasty techniques to get your mojo cranking!
But first I thought I might introduce myself :
The Iveson clan 🙂
My name is Renee Iveson and I live south west of Brisbane with my husband Tim and our two daughters – Viola and Charlotte (aka Shirley) and son Walter. By day I run my own family day care business but in the evenings and weekends I love to create!
I have been scrapbooking for just over a decade now, starting way back in 2003 when I created a forty paged album for my sisters 21st birthday (which is interesting to note that this has been the ONLY album I have ever put together!) as a unique gift of childhood memories. After that I was hooked and introduced this awesome hobby to my best friend Gillian Lester who hit the ground running and gave me a partner in crime to scrap, share ideas and new techniques with. As I am slightly technologically delayed – Gilly and I even share a blog. Continue reading

Onto the PROJECTS!
Here at SC HQ, we were very lucky that all of our design team wanted to be part of the flair hop–honestly, I think it’s just because flairs are so in right now and they just couldn’t wait to use them.
These are just a few of the gorgeous creations I’ve seen over the last couple of days. (Click the image for a larger image.)
Also, don’t forget to head over to the SC online team’s blogs and check out the rest!
What is my store?
My name is Raquel Bowman and my store is a little online store called ‘A Piece of Cake Designs’ (APOCD) which has been my baby since March 2012.
Why did you start it?
APOCD was an idea that I had rolling around in my head since 2011 and official planning and website design began in September 2011, with the launch in March 2012. At the time of our launch, there was a definite gap in the market in Australia for Scrapbooking kits. As an avid scrapbooker, I was a ‘kit purchaser’ myself and found that I was sourcing my kits from the US as there was nothing available in Australia that suited my tastes. Hence, APOCD was born.
What’s your speciality?
I specialise in scrumptious Scrapbooking kits that are filled to the brim with the latest and greatest supplies and also sell exclusive items designed by me only available in my store. I pride myself on putting together gorgeous kits that include coordinating patterned papers from a variety of manufacturers, alphabets, embellishments and as mentioned above, exclusive items that you can get no where else, such as Cherry Flair buttons, wood veneer and masks.
Since March 2012, APOCD has grown dramatically, with the introduction of another smaller kit; a ‘Cupcake’ kit and in January 2013, the launch of our Cherry Flair. Recently, we have also introduced masks and wood veneer designed by myself especially for APOCD. Continue reading
There is so much going on in the scrapbooking world at the moment and I am loving seeing the trends head towards pastel colours. And Glitz Designs have totally aced it — rocking pastel tones with triangles. (Images are from Glitz Blog.)
The delightful Heidi Swapp is the Queen of Pastel colours at the moment with her new line of Colour Shine (I may have accidentally bought them all yesterday) and her stunning paper collection. I am LOVING her Mixed Company line with Pink Paislee too. (Images are from Pink Paislee Blog and Heidi Swapp Blog)
And finally, I have a couple of favorite scrapbookers who can do Pastel tones just beautifully. (Hover your mouse over the image to see who they are!)

So that’s one of my fave trends at the moment – what are you loving?
So I know a lot of you have got the Project Life bug. Even I have stepped into the world of beautiful cards and pocket pages and have been recording my recent Health Journey through this wonderful system. I have a great friend who has been documenting her everyday through Project Life and thought it’d be interesting to ask her a few questions. Introducing Christine Cid! Continue reading
I get a lot of people ask where I create so I thought it was about time I took a few photos and shared my Scrap Space. This is Jessica’s old bedroom – hence the yellow paint and underwater frieze! This is where the magic happens! :p
My amazing husband built the desk into the corner for me.
Gotta love the IKEA bookcase – perfect for scrapbookers!
Glimmermist, Inks and Embossing powders are stored in these trays that Trev made.
Old bookcase makes great on bench shelving for my fave stamps and punches.
Storage of notebooks, patterned paper and other bits! Always messy – no hiding that!
My work area.
I hope you enjoyed the tour!
